Mentoring The Mind:
Feed The Body, Nourish The Soul
Are you ready to break free from the ties of emotional eating?
To finally feel like you are in control of your body and not the other way around?
We all want to look and more importantly feel our absolute best…
And that’s why I’ve created this program for you.
Do you feel as though you lack the “willpower” to successfully change your eating behavior for longer than just a few days? When you look in the mirror, what is the story you tell yourself? And most importantly, what effect is this having on your overall well-being? You deserve to treat yourself the same way you treat your loved ones, with love, kindness, and compassion.
Whether you believe this (yet) or not, it is possible to feel comfortable in your own skin, regardless of the number on you see on the scale. It is possible to live through life’s natural ups and downs without turning to food for comfort, stress-relief or as a reward.
This innovative program creates the space needed
for a new ‘you’ to emerge.
It is designed to help woman who desire real change through shared knowledge in an online group setting. We will meet for six 90-minute interactive sessions over 3 months to ensure the development of true and lasting methods for wellness. You can expect to find many ways to create a healthy relationship with food, body, and weight. “Overcome Emotional Eating” is a comprehensive four-component approach created for chronic dieters, emotional over-eaters and anyone else who desires a peacefully empowered relationship with their mind, body and life.
This liberating and life-changing course includes the
following essential, interrelated elements:
1. LIFE:
Digging deeply into this component will help you to identify the many possible “whys” of your overeating habits. Over the course of these 3 months, you will learn more effective emotional coping skills and behaviors so that you will no longer need to turn to food for comfort. We will explore different aspects of your life in depth and help you to understand how you learned to use food to cope (likely from an early age), and how to replace self-judgment with compassion and genuine understanding and love for your self.
2. FOOD:
In order to master sustainable behavioral change, we use a myriad of psychological and nutritional know-how to eliminate old, problematic eating habits and replace them with healthier, more sustainable practices. I will help you understand the “how” and “why” of the interaction between nutrition, physiology and your emotions. You will learn how to work with your own body’s unique physiological make-up to eliminate those excessive food cravings. Lastly, you will learn intuitive eating skills that will create behavioral changes and ultimately help you take back control of your body!
3. BODY:
What we believe about our body’s potential, how we feel IN our body, and our daily self-talk have everything to do with how we experience our body each day. Shockingly, 98% of woman and young girls over the age of 6 have body-image issues. This creates unnecessary internal stress (on top of the stress coming from outside of you) which heightens cortisol levels ultimately creating this vicious cycle of cravings and emotional eating. By learning how to listen to your true hunger cues and cherish your individuality, you will be empowered to make the best choices for YOU and your life!
4. BRAIN:
For many of us, emotional eating habits were encoded into our brains while we were still small children. A correlation has been found between overeating and a personal history of trauma, such as physical or emotional abuse, an accident, or witnessing a disaster. Deep in the subconscious, the brain stores habitual behaviors which are linked to the events, emotions, and techniques used to self-soothe during the time of trauma. This can create a pattern of emotional overeating that repeats over and over again, making it difficult to lose weight and keep it off. For example, your “conscious” mind knows that you shouldn’t eat the cheesecake because it is loaded with fat and calories, but your unconscious mind fights back urging you to go along with the pattern of soothing with food. To better understand why you are the way you are, we will identify what type of eater you are, with the help of Dr. Daniel Amen’s work with the brain. An assessment of activity throughout the brain will highlight areas that need extra TLC.
